For most clients, you will see a difference from your first treatment, but as your hair grows in different stages multiple treatments are required for the maximum removal of hair. Typically, 8 sessions are recommended for the best and most long-lasting result.

Laser hair removal is proven way to reduce and remove unwanted hair. The laser technology that we use has been designed with sensitive skin in mind, it utilises three different types of lasers (alexandrite, diode and NDYAG) which means it and can be used on any area of the body and on any skin tone whilst still ensuring maximum results.

Laser hair removal works by creating a heat reaction within the hair follicle which inhibits the blood supply to the hair and in effect removes the ability for It to grow. The light emitted by the laser is attracted to the pigment within the hair, this creates the heat reaction and is why we ask you to shave prior to your treatment (so that the heat reaction takes place within the hair follicle for maximum results).

Our state-of-the-art 3D Trilogyice machine is fitted with an ice cool tip which ensures the most comfortable – pain free treatment by cooling the skin whilst the heat reaction is taking place within the hair follicles. It effectively numbs the area for the few seconds that it takes to perform.

Laser hair removal is a quick treatment to have done – it takes on average around 1-2 minutes to completely and effectively treat an underarm and around 10 minutes to treat a Hollywood bikini line.

Most clients see optimal results within 8 sessions of laser hair removal spaced 4 weeks apart for facial areas or 6 weeks apart for areas on the body.

Consultation:

To allow us to assess the hair to be treated for thickness and pigment we ask that you attend your consultation with a small patch of hair grown to at least 2mm in the area that you would like to have treated (a 1-inch square patch is sufficient). This will allow us to select the most effective settings for you.

We will ask you to complete a consultation form upon arrival at the salon, our expert clinical therapist will take you through to our treatment room, talk through the treatment and answer any questions that you have.

We will then perform a patch test in the area, which means we will perform the laser treatment on a small patch to enable you to see how comfortable the treatment is and to ensure that your skin reacts well to the treatment (reactions are extremely rare but possible).

Your first full session can be booked 24 hours after your initial patch test.

Before your full treatment:

• Shave the area to be treated the day before your treatment. This ensures the most effective and most comfortable treatment.
  • Hair growing out from the skin can result in the heat reaction taking place partially outside the hair follicle which means the treatment will not be as effective and you may feel the heat sensation.
• Do not wax, tweeze, remove the hair from the hair follicle or use depilatory creams or bleaches for 4 weeks before treatment.
  • Removing the hair from the hair follicle less than 4 weeks before treatment will result in a less effective treatment as the hair will not be in the correct growing stage. Depilatory creams and bleaches can also cause the skin to be more sensitive to the light as well as making the treatment less effective.
• Avoid direct sunlight or use a high SPF for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Exposure to sunlight can cause the skin to be more sensitive to light and therefore more sensitive to laser.

After your treatment

• Avoid the following for 24 hours after your treatment
  • Heat treatments such as steam rooms, saunas or hot showers
  • Shaving
  • Excessive sweating/exercise
  • Swimming
  • Highly perfumed or active products on the area
  • Tight restrictive clothing depending on the area
• Avoid direct sunlight and apply an SPF 50 to the area
  • Laser treatment can make your skin more sensitive to light, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight such as sunbathing for 2 weeks post-treatment. We also advise applying an SPF 50 to protect the skin.
• Gently exfoliate the area 1 week after treatment to help shed away treated hairs.
